Baden-Württemberg, VW Grubu’na karşı dava açan ilk Alman federal eyaleti olmaya hazırlanıyor. VW’nin aynı eyalette, Neckarsulm’da araç üretmesine rağmen eyalet hükümeti, VW’den tazminat talep etmek amacıyla dava açmayı planlamaktadır. Eyalet hükümetinin iddiası, emisyon değerlerinin manipüle edilmesi yoluyla kasten ve ahlaka aykırı biçimde zarar verildiği yönündedir. EA 189 tipi motora sahip kaç aracın eyalete teslim edildiği henüz belirlenmediğinden, talep edilecek tazminatın tutarı da kesinleşmemiştir. Eyalet hükümeti daha önce uyuşmazlığın uzlaşma yoluyla çözülmesini teklif etmiş, ancak otomobil üreticisi bu teklife yanıt vermemiştir. Bu nedenle eyalet hükümeti, ilgili süreyi kaçırmamak amacıyla kısa süre içinde dava açacaktır.
Bu sırada VW’ye karşı açılan davaların sayısı giderek artmaktadır. VW Grubu, Avrupa’da yüksek tutarlı tazminat taleplerine karşı hukuki savunmasını sürdürürken, ABD’de yetkili makamların baskısı sonucunda tüketicilere kapsamlı tazminat hakları tanımıştır.

Baden-Württemberg bakımından bu, VW Grubu’na karşı açılan ilk dava değildir. Eyalet, iki yıl önce de dizel skandalı nedeniyle kamu görevlilerine yönelik emeklilik fonunun uğradığı zararlar için VW Grubu’na karşı dava açmıştır.
