VW scandal: Even the software updates disappoint

No pointless software updates, but rather an obligation on car manufacturers to retrofit vehicles to Euro 6 standard, at their own expense. This is the demand made by Hartmut Bäumer, a former Green Party politician, to Michael Müller, the Governing Mayor of Berlin. Bäumer, who is himself affected, had subjected his diesel vehicle to a software update at the order of the district authority. The result: the update reduced pollutant emissions only marginally. The NOx value fell by 37 mg, but at 1,134 mg it remained far above the permissible limit of 180 mg. The environmentally harmful CO2 value even increased by 7%.

A response from the mayor is still outstanding at this point.
