Baden-Württemberg será probablemente el primer estado federado en interponer una demanda contra el Grupo VW. Aunque VW fabrica sus coches en este estado (Neckarsulm), el Gobierno regional quiere demandar a VW por daños y perjuicios. La acusación, según el Gobierno regional, es de daños intencionados e inmorales por la manipulación de los sistemas de escape. El importe de la reclamación aún no está claro, ya que todavía no se ha determinado el número de coches (con el tipo de motor EA 189) entregados en el estado. Anteriormente, el Gobierno regional había ofrecido llegar a un acuerdo extrajudicial, pero el fabricante de automóviles no ha respondido a esta oferta. Por lo tanto, el Gobierno regional presentará en breve una demanda para no dejar pasar el plazo.
Mientras tanto, se acumulan las demandas contra VW. A diferencia de lo que ocurre en Europa, donde el grupo sigue defendiéndose contra el pago de generosas indemnizaciones, en EE. UU. VW ha cedido a la presión de las autoridades y ha concedido a los consumidores indemnizaciones por daños y perjuicios de gran alcance.

Para Baden-Württemberg, no es la primera demanda contra el Grupo VW. Hace dos años, el estado presentó una demanda por las pérdidas sufridas por el fondo de previsión de los funcionarios del estado a causa del escándalo del diésel.
